Welcome
Welcome to my practice. I’m so looking forward to accompanying you on your spiritual journey.
Please share a few details and read the Relationship and Confidentiality Agreement, below, to get us started on our path together.
Relationship and Confidentiality Agreement
Thank you for partnering with me in this sacred work. Trust is at the heart of spiritual direction, and I take your privacy and dignity seriously. This agreement outlines our relationship and confidentiality expectations and their limits so you can feel informed and supported. Please read the following carefully and don’t hesitate to ask questions before signing.
Our Relationship
It is understood that our relationship pertains to and concerns your spiritual life. It does not directly concern itself with psychological counseling, psychotherapy, or medical practice of any kind. Although it is appropriate at times to discuss psychological and relational difficulties in the context of Spiritual Direction, I am not a psychotherapist, nor do I provide such services.
I am bound by the Guidelines for Ethical Conduct of Spiritual Directors International, which emphasize confidentiality, respect, and care in the spiritual direction relationship.
Confidentiality
I will hold your identity and the content of your spiritual direction sessions in strict confidence and will not share them without your consent — except in cases where there is a serious concern of suicide, abuse, or harm to self or others.
As required by SDI and the UU Spiritual Directors Network, I engage in monthly professional supervision. In this setting, I may share material from spiritual direction sessions. The purpose of this sharing is to help me grow in my practice and provide better care, so the focus is on my experience, not yours. Every effort is made to minimize identifying details, and fictitious names are used when presenting case studies or written reflections. What is shared in supervision remains confidential to the supervision group.
